Michael Myers beginner guide: your first nights as the Shape
Updated Sep 11, 2026v1.0.1Verified2 min read
Start with the three facts that reframe everything: Michael is slow — he cannot run down a healthy civilian without an ability; he wins on points (3,000+, residents mattering most); and he's immune during kill animations but executable-from-the-ground scary when downed — yet arrestable if cops swarm the down. Play chess, not tag.
Do story mode first — it's his tutorial — then bookmark controls & keybinds, because the game won't teach you its own buttons.
The opening: build before you hunt
Stalk NPCs and gold targets first (middle mouse; right click to zoom — the hidden trick that makes stalk markers easy). NPCs can't punish being watched; they're free Stalk and Bloodthirst. Follow the golden sky beams to Special Targets.
Destroy, don't disable. Power and phone lines can be switched off or destroyed — destroying is strictly better: a flipped switch flips back; a destroyed line needs a scarce repair kit.
Break the CB radio if you find it unused. It's the civilians' guaranteed Dr. Loomis respawn; denying it early closes their best comeback. Reported
Avoid grouped, armed civilians. A tier-1 Michael in a lit room against three weapons is how arrests start.
Killing well
- Context executions (kitchens, bathrooms, poles, cars) out-earn plain kills in Bloodthirst — position victims before committing.
- Grabs and executions run a number-sequence minigame; rest your fingers on 1–4. Hold a grab too long and the victim escapes — and a grab-escape knife voids it entirely, so watch for the blue-highlight pickup in their hands.
- You're immune mid-animation — their gunfire during your execution is free theater.
- Pick up their weapons and throw them. Pitchforks, hatchets, lawn darts, rakes — anything they leave becomes yours.
Reading the map
Your HUD shows who's currently spotting you Reported; street lights flicker while you move invisibly through them — experienced civilians read that tell, so vary your routes. Lit houses block Shape Jump entry; every dark room you manufacture (Ctrl+F Blackout, or the breakers) is territory.
The four classic losses
- Chasing a healthy runner at minute one — you're slow; that's the point of you.
- Fighting into lights before tier 2 — knockdown, hourglass, handcuffs.
- Ignoring residents — you win on their deaths, and every escapee is points subtracted.
- Leaving the exits unwatched late — civilians open them staged, and you can re-close a fresh exit if you're there. Reported

How to arrest Michael Myers
Arresting Michael Myers, corrected: only cops and Dr. Loomis can detain him, an arrest meter fills near a downed Michael, and the Fragile Hourglass buys the time.
