Character & item unlock levels
Updated Sep 11, 2026v1.0.1Reported1 min read
Unlock levels exist — the roster and the loadout screen both grow as you play — but the full table hasn't been documented anywhere yet. This page publishes the confirmed rows and grows as cards are read on screen. What's confirmed so far:
Confirmed unlocks
| Unlock | Requirement | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Bob Sims (playable hero) | Account level 40 | Verified (stat card read on screen) |
| Pocket Knife (starting item) | Lynda level 10 | Reported |
| Flare Gun (starting item) | Unlockable starter; level unknown | Reported |
Two different systems are visible in that table: account-level unlocks (Bob at 40) and per-character level unlocks (Lynda's knife at her level 10). Assume other rows of both kinds exist — skins, execution animations, and abilities are all challenge- or progression-gated per the XP tracks guide.
What this means for your grind
- New players: nothing here should change your first nights — the standard roster plays fine, and Jennifer and Laurie are available immediately.
- The one deliberate grind worth doing early: Lynda to level 10. A permanent free grab-escape knife at spawn is the best account-wide upgrade we know of.
- Level 40 is a haul — treat Bob as a milestone, not a target. His 9-Capability kit is worth reaching, not worth misery-grinding toward.
