Do they earn a slot? Yes, en route to the car — then leave them there. Sedan keys are highlighted yellow, start the sedan escape, and have the teamwork feature people miss: they can be dropped by the car for teammates. Keys in the ignition's shadow serve everyone; keys in a looter's pocket across the map serve Michael.
The two corrections worth knowing
- Keys aren't the bottleneck — the repair kit is. The sedan chain is kit + keys + gas, and the kit is the scarce one. Finding keys first mostly means you now know what to look for next.
- Annie skips keys entirely — her trait starts the sedan without them. It's real, and it saves less than it sounds like, because the kit requirement stands.
Handling notes
- Drop-by-the-car beats hand-offs: it survives your death and needs no rendezvous.
- The minimap shows who holds key items — carrier discipline (lit routes, no solo scouting) applies as with every yellow glow.
- A dead officer's dropped car keys open a separate police-car escape — different keys, same lesson: check bodies near vehicles. Reported
