The game's moderation is player-driven by design — the developers said so directly in their September 10 explanation: block, mute, and report are your tools, and there's no expectation of a moderator stepping into a live match. Here's the practical version.

The three tools

  • Mute — instant, personal silence on a player's voice chat. Costs nothing, fixes most problems (which are, let's be honest, usually audio problems).
  • Block — persistent: keeps you from being matched with them again where the system can avoid it. Your curated-lobby tool.
  • Report — the escalation path that can lead to actual account penalties. Reserve it for real misconduct: harassment, cheating, slurs — not for a Michael who tunneled you.

Where to find them

Player-card menus are the home for all three — accessible from the lobby and the in-match player list. Exact button paths per platform aren't officially documented; the reliable route on every platform is: open the scoreboard/player list → select the player → the mute/block/report options are on their card. Reported

Platform-level tools stack on top: PSN and Xbox both offer OS-level block/report against the same player, and OS-level voice reporting captures clips on some platforms — worth using in serious cases.

Using them well

  1. Mute early. An open hot mic in minute one doesn't improve by minute ten.

  2. Block quietly. No announcement needed; arguing in voice chat before blocking is paying a toll to leave a free road.

  3. Report with specifics. If the platform offers a reason/category, pick accurately — miscategorized reports are reportedly the slowest to action. Unverified

The official framing of the whole system is summarized in our news post.
