The bug with the most comedic timing in the game: items dropped into bushes can become unretrievable — the pickup prompt simply won't reach them — until the bush is destroyed. Discovered the expensive way, by a player whose stashed rare items vanished into landscaping.
The workaround
Destroy the bush if you can — the item becomes reachable again once the shrubbery is gone. Heavy weapon swings are the reported method. Reported
Prevent it instead: drop and stash on clear ground — floors, driveways, porches. If you're running the stash strategy, stash indoors, memorably, never in greenery.
Mind your death spot. You drop everything on death, and a fight that ends in a hedge can feed your hourglass to the topiary. Fights near bushes are slot roulette.
Status
Reported from systematic play, unaddressed in patch notes. Filed on the known-issues board; this page flips to Fixed with a version number when the collision gets patched.
